Description

Soldiers leave Heartbreak Ridge. These soldiers were from the last combat unit in the division remaining on the ridge.

The Battle of Heartbreak Ridge was one of the bloodiest battles of the Korean War. Fought during September-October 1951, the battle pitted American, South Korean and allied French troops, who were trying to capture the ridge, against North Korean and Chinese forces.
