Dear Governor

I have returned from Washington & find matters all in good train.

Let me caution you that Washburne will contest the Senatorship strongly.

Care on your own part is all that is necessary to defeat him in his aspirations.

We will see to it that he does not make any capital from this region of country.

I expect to go to the field soon probably to N. Orleans
