Dear Sir
I have this moment recd a letter from Genl Oglesby; stating that he had written Col Turner to make 10 appointments for himself in the northern part of the State for the first part of September. I have written Col Turner urging that one of those be at this place: also to Genl Oglesby asking the same and I now write you, asking that if compatible with other more important duties. you will unite with Genl Oglesby and the Committee in fixing a date at which yourself & Genl O. will address us here. Your presence here will increase the Union vote several hundred in this section. as it would lead to a more complete organization of the party. Our people have been preparing to "turn out" in numbers. whenever you may decide to come.
Our Convention to nominate a state Representative will be held at this place on the 15th inst and Our Senatorial Convention will be at Geneseo on the 23d. Mr Webster of Rock Island stands a good chance of being nominated as Senator. Of the results of the Conventions I
will apprise you. and use my influence to see that both nominees are all right on the U. S. Senatorship. In regard to both offices, the nomination is equivalent to an election.

Col. Turner is to make 10 appointments. Has written to Col Turner and to Gen. Oglesby to make one at Cambridge. Want Gov Yates to come also.
Representative Convention is on 15th inst. Senatorial on 23 at Geneseo, Senatorial items.
