Headquarters Recruiting Rendezvous,

Camp Casey, VA Nov 22nd 1864

To his Excellency Gov Yates

Dear Sir

I have the honor to address you a few lines un-officially. I wish to express my sincere thanks for your kindness & sympathy for a soldiers family. My wife sent you a letter in Sept stating her delicate health & asking your aid in her behalf to get me discharged from the U.S. Service, the Col. Comdg received the letter & endorsed from the War Department referring my case to him my health is not very good & had the refusal of a discharge. I think I can hold out until next August. The communication was respectfully returned that my desire was to serve out my original term of service. I am happy to state my wife's health is improving; hence my wish to serve out my enlistment when I return I hope the bottom of the Confederacy will be nocked out and fall in the lap of its illustrious Sire the

I am very Respectfully,

Conrad Brown Co, "G" 10th Regt V.R.C. late 228th V.R.C.

P.S.

I recd a detail from the Sec. of War 20th of August as usual. "16" for Month.

Thanks the Gov for the kind assistance he rendered his wife in her efforts to get him discharged from service. He thinks now he will serve his time out.
