Dear Sir.

I returned from my tour of inspection in the Gulf Dept, & posts en route, this morning. As soon as I can get my notes together, & complete my report, I will report, as you requested, in person, at Springfield.

During my absence I saw the St Louis Democrat of the 29th Nov, in which was an article in regard to the Ills Senatorial question.

I send the Democrat an article this mail, under the signature of "Veteran." Please write me what you think of it, also if you think I can do any good - in the same line, in any other question.

If I reach Springfield with any Gulf report by the 25th, will it be in season?

Just returned from his tour of inspection in the Gulf Dpt. will bring his report as soon as he gets it prepared - has written an article to the "Democrat" over signature of Veteren - please write how you like it - and whether he can do anything in the senator line - If he reaches Springfield with Report by 25/inst, will it be time enough.
