Govnr Yates.

Sir. I have just had an interview with Genl Hallick. and cannot get him to consent that I shall retain our Mutual Friend Grierson as my aid he will therefore have to join his Regt. whilst I regret this permit me to thank you in endeavouring to assist me, and please him he is worthy of Position and hereafter if in your power to advance him I trust it may be done he is deserving and will fill any Military Position You can give him with credit to himself and Service.

I shall remember your kindness to me and trust that you will ever find in me a true friend.

Yours Truly
