Sir: Having learned through several sources that Lieut. J. D. Ellington, Adjutant of this Regt. was seeking the appointment of Lieut. Col. in another Regt. at your hands, by desire of a number of the Officers of this Regiment, I would respectfully suggest the propriety of your making some inquiry into his military career before making the appointment
