Dr Sir I learn from Lieut Kirkbride of Col. Carrs 3d Cavalry Regiment that the place you gave me last fall, viz. 1st Major, in that Regiment is still vacant.
Can I have the post yet. If so write by return mail and I will report myself to Col. Carr forthwith
