To The Governor of the State of Ills

Gov Yates Dear Sir

My husband Capt. Co. H. 46th Reg Ill Vols (John Stevens) having been wounded at the Pittsburg Battle we are very anxious he should be sent home as soon as he is able to be removed We are not permitted to go for him and I wish to solicit a favor at your hands which I hope will be granted I fear he will be sent some other place or kept in the Hospital and if you will do me the act of kindness to see that he is sent home as soon as practicable you will do us a very great kindness


and my gratitude will be unbounded to you
