Hon Richard Yates

Dr Sir:

I take the liberty of introducing to your acquaintance Capt R. V Chesley of this place, late of the 12th Regt Ills Vols. who visits your city on business with your Department and I would further express the hope that the matter he may present to you will meet with your favorable consideration.

The Capt lately commanded Co C in the 12th Regt; but has been compelled to resign his command, in consequence of a wound recd at the battle of Ft. Donaldson; and his interest in the welfare of his company prompts him to desire that they shall have, in his successor a commander acceptable to them.

Truly

Yr friend

E. S. Terry
