Sir--

Genl Orders No 69. provides for Soldiers, on leave at home; – transportation free. I enclose herewith a leave of absence obtained three weeks ago. On arriving here, I was taken Sick and consequently was not able to return as soon as intended, and although not well now am very anxious to return. Can I procure free transportation to my Regiment at Memphis Tenns. If So, I would deem it a favor if you would forward the necessary papers. – as I cannot go without it. My Regiment is, I learn, at Memphis.
