Biggsville Ills July 12th/62

Dear Sir

I take the liberty to address you again in reference to my obtaining the position of Assistant Surgeon in some of the new Ill Reg now recruiting.

Since I met you at Springfield last winter I have made no effort at all to get into the Army supposing all the Regs were full, but since the call for more troops I have concluded, that - by the assistance of some friends I may perhaps get in. As I already have

a certificate I am ready to go on short notice If you see any vancancy and will use your influence for me, I shall feel under great obligations to you I have heard nothing from my Bro-in-Law, for some time, I am afraid Curtis has got into a hard region, but I think he has the material to work his way though

Yours &c

David McDill
