Sir: About 14 Days ago I sent a letter to you asking you for a Comission as Surgeon, or as a Compagnie Officer, which I would prefer. - In the same letter were contained a Comission as Asst. Surgeon from the State of Iowa of Govr. Kirkwood, one, as Surgeon from the State of Missouri, Govr. Gamble

and 2 Certificates, one of General Sigel & one of General Osterhaus, the first letter will show all about it. -

Till now Your Excellency has not favored me with an answer, which I must respectfully request of you, and if not, pleas have sent my papers back, as they are valuable to me. -
