To his Excellency Richard Yates, Govenor of the State of Illinois,

The undersigned citizens of Dallas City, Henderson, & Hancock Counties, State of Illinois, having full faith and confidence in the integrity, ability and patriotism of our fellow citizens on Wm. H. Rollasson, would make petition your Excellency to appoint and commission him a Colonel of Illinois Volunteers and authorize him to raise a Regiment in this Section of the State under the late call of the President. Such an appointment being made we believe a full Regiment could be raised under him in a short time. For which your petitioners will ever pary. July 1862.

The above names were all obtained in our place in about six hours there could be hundreds of names obtained in the two countys if deemed necessary. There is a company organizing here for the war.
