Allow me to say that I would be very much pleased to recive an order (if without manifest injury to the service) for my Command to join the army on the Mississippi. I desire this from the fact that a part of my Command is now at or near Hellena Arks. and a part "bush whacking" around this place, and wish to have the regiment together. If through your influence with Major Genl Grant, can accomplish this. you will render a very great favor to the Command.
