Dear Sir
I enclose document which explains themselves, and I earnestly hope you can give Mr Boyd a position, such as he deserves. He was among the first to join the Army of the Union, and will be the last [desert?] the glorious old flag.
He is of English birth, being a native of the Isle of Jersey but many years a resident here, & he is more bitter against the English Government for [her?] dastardly course, than I can be, & I hope yet to see the day that our army
again shall humiliate the British Lion -
