Dear Sir
For fear you have not gotten my letter written Aug 8th I again write to you offering my services as Surgeon or Asst Surgeon.
In seeing men all around me leaving their houses business, and comfortable firesides to fight for that noble old flag and our country I cannot remain behind, if I can be of any use to my country in this its most trying hour therefore I have made up my mind to leave all and help defend my government.
