In taking the liberty and sending to you the enclosed recommendation of Col. Hall of the 14th. Regt. Ills. vol. I would only alow myself to say, that said "Christian A. Kuhl" is my only Son, now over 24 years of age, and I would not only be very much oblige to you for given him a promotion as a Captain, or at least a Lieutenant, but I do belive, dear Govener you never will regret for doing so.

I hope you do remember me from Jacksonville, Ills, were we often meet while I traveld Quincy & Beardstown Districts as German Pr. Eld. of the Meth. E. Church. I am now stationed in "Wash Street Station" St. Louis, Mo.

If possible, Dear Govr, grant my whishes.
