Martin of the 8th Regt of Ills Vols, who has for more than 15 months been a soldier and for most of that time been Sergeant Major of my Old Regt. He is so now. He is a fine drill as well as administrative officer and would make an excellent adjutant or Lieut In one of the New Regiments. I really hope you may find it convenient to avail yourself of His fine abilities In sending Him to some good and responsible Post in your appointments.
