Corinth Miss Aug 23rd 1862.

Hon Gov Yates.

Dear Sir.

I take the liberty of presenting the claims of my friend Edw. B. Reeder. who entered the service with me near twelve months ago. and served faithfully and efficiently as orderley Sergt. until last winter when he was attacked with Rheumatism upon which he got Discharged. We were in the three months service. and is well qualified to fill any position as high as major. We recruited quite a number of men for One of the Regts forming at Olney, enough to entitle him to a position. but was wronged out of it by outsiders. and a person selected who is inexperienced and incompetent. Mr. Reeder is a good drill Officer and will be a great acquisition to any Regiment, and he merits a good position if any man does.
