Hon Rich Yates.

The bearer Capt Henry L Reed is disirous of Obtaining a commission as Col or Lt. Col of some of our Regiments. He has seen service in the Mexican & the present War & has I believe acquited himself with honor in every respect.

He has the full confidence & Esteem of all good men of our county & is deserving of the Esteem of who Know him & is in every respect qualified & fited for such position in my judgment.
