Sir,
I take pleasure in bearing full testimony to the personal gallantry and [zeal?] of Major Thielman who commanded a Battalion of Cavalry in my Division in the march from Shiloh to Corinth.
He was ever ready & prompt and by his activity rendered his full share of service in that memorable period.
Should your Excellency contemplate enlarging his present command from two to four full companies in a whole Regiment, I venture the expression of opinion that Major Thielman would be a worthy commander.
