To His Excellency

Richard Yates Esq.

Governor of Illinois.

Dear Sir,

I had thought so much of late, about the Colliers in Illinois, that I had quite overlooked your great meeting at Springfield, until reminded of it, by seeing the presidents admirable letter - please therefore, lay on one side, my communication for him, and to you, sent by last post, until your time is less engrossed than it must be now, with far more important subjects.

I am,

Dear Sir,

Yours very faithfully

James McKenzie.
