A. A. Glenn,

General Land Agent.

Taxes Paid, Etc.

Office, Clerk of Circuit Court, Brown Co.,

Mt. Sterling, Ill., Sept 10th 1862

His Excellency

Gov Yates,

Dear Sir

Last night I secured the enclosed recommendation from Corinth Mississippi with the request that I should lay it before you. Capt. Miles D Murphy of Co H. 50th Regt Ill Volunteers has resigned on account of bad health, and of course a vacancy will now be created in that Company

I suppose the Lieutenants will both be promoted, and if so I think the wishes of a majority of the Company might properly be consulted in filling 2d Lieutenancy. A majority of nearly two thirds of Company have signed this recommendation including both Lieutenants. I am satisfied McNeil would make a good officer and hope he may have an appointment

I am Respectfully

Yours &c A A Glenn
