Your letter of Sept. 9", notifying me of the recommendation of Col. Jaques 73 Regt Ill. Vol. for the position of Assistant Surgeon in his Regt is at hand. In reply to which I will say that I desire to accept the appointment.

I have already a permit for examination from Gov. Yates, and the Examining board have notified me to appear before them on the 16" day of October:- If it will Expedite the Examination any by another order for immediate Examination I should be glad to receive it.
