Columbus Ky Sept 22d 1862
Gov. Yates
Dr Sir
I recd a line this morning from Lt Gov. Hoffman saying that the matter of complaint referred to by me in my letter of the 31st would be carefully attended to I am happy to say that within the last few days a change has occurred in the management here & that negro laborers are now being employed on the levee. I hope this may continue so & believe it will. The 76th Regt is enjoying a very fair degree of health & doing finely I have been sick for a week but am much better
