To the Honerable

Govenor Yates

of Illinois

Dear Sir

Dare I take the liberty of writing a few lines to Your Honour for the purpose of ascertaining if Your Honour has any emploiment for a Man here at home I am a farmer by occupation I am obliged to give it up on account of weakness of the Bowels which renders me unfit for any kind of Severe or heavy labor I endure Considerable active labour & have thought if I could get a birth of any kind in the army or for the Soldiers here at Peoria


I would be very thankful if your Honour thinks proper to notice me I will be obliged I have a large family to support & no help but my own hands to do it
