My dear Governor Hoffmann,

Will you be kind enough to let me know whether you have drafted the Circular letter of instructions you referred to in the interview Mr Anderson & I had with you in Springfield. The reason for my asking you is that I have some business up the

Lieut Governor Hoffmann

Springfield Ill

Mississippi & I shall then avail myself of the opportunity to call upon the Governors of Iowa and Wisconsin. I shall leave St Louis on Friday Evening or Saturday morning and if you should prefer to see me in person I will call on you in Springfield on Thursday if you will be kind enough to telegraph me tomorrow. We have just closed our

disagreeable task in Missouri and I am happy to say that there is great credit due to all authorities here for the good sense and kindly feeling they have manifested

I am,

My dear Governor

Yours very truly

J. Edward Wilkins
