Hon. Richard Yates

Governor of Illinois

Dear Sir -

We would very Respectfully, call your attention to a grievance, at this place, from which, we with all Loyal men in this community are, (as we think) being Imposed upon by the Illinois Central Rail Road Company by their keeping a man in their employ as Station Agent, at this place, who is undoubtedly a Secessionist; He is a man of ability, but is useing all his ability in favor of Treason and Rebellion.

The citizens of this town have Petitioned the R.R. Company to remove him, but they have not done so.

He being an Alien, and occupying the Position he does, It is very unpleasant for us to have him in our town. -

We therefore Very Respectfully ask--

you to have said (Sawyer) Agent removed. For further information we refer you to D.L. Phillips U.S. Marshall.

Yours Very Respectfully
