The prospects in this (Cook) county, are good, & are improving every hour. The nominations are for Senator J D Ward, Fifty Ninth Dist.

All these candidates shall be seen by myself or a friend immediately, & pledges shall be obtained from them in your favor. My friend Taylor has put $1,000 at my disposal to be used in the canvas in this county, to elect the members who are favorable to you.
He saw Geo W Gage about an [hour?] since. Gage pledges himself to you. He says that Sheriff Hessing opposed to your election, because it will make Hoffman Govr
I will endeavor to see Hessing at once.
You may rest assured,
Governor, that every effort will be made by me to secure an united delegation delegation for you from this county.
I shall endeavor to accomplish this before the election, that is, secure pledges from them.
The election of some of them is now doubtful, it will be easier to obtain those pledges now than after the election.
We are now having a very hard snow [storm?]
