Dear Sir:

The Adjutant General of the Army has refused to transfer your brother from 74th to 96th Regt.

I am mortified and provoked at this, but at present cannot of course prevent it.

Gov. Yates goes to Chicago to-morrow night and will be there Monday and Tuesday.

Call upon him, and as he goes to Washington in a few days, I think by making a personal application he will be able to have it done.
