dear sir, having been informed that your honor has the power as Governor of the State of Illinois, to return minors or those under eighteen years of age who have volunteered in the army, your humble servant, who is the father of Chrystopher Showalter, who volunteerd in Company C. Regt 62. Ill. Vol Capt Obermier would respectfully request, that your honor intercede for or procure his discharge, he was born June 9th 1844 and for the past two months, from ill health, he has been unable to perform any duty, and if your honor will procure his discharge, or inform me in what manner I can proceed to procure the same, you will place his parents under obligations to you,
