Sir. The bearer of this Mr. Charles Miller has served as Hospital Stewart in the 53d Ills. from the time of its first organization until a late date. When he was obliged to leave from sickness, he now desires to obtain a position in a Port Hospital where he will not be exposed to the fatigues of his position En route. Mr. Miller is competent an efficient, If you would lend your influence for an appointment as Hospital Stewart, by obtaining from the Governor a request to the W. I. Medical Director at Washington I think he would get an appointment, as the Hospitals are needing those who have experience in handling medicines and putting up proscriptions.
