Dear Sir it is on on this day that I got any information of your where abouts from a Capt. of the 7th Ills Cavellry he toold me yo were in General Grants army but did not know in what division I suppose you are aware of us Beaing taken prisnors at Shiloah on the 6th April 1862 and paroled Oct the 18th 1862 and sent here to await an exchange
and I do not care how soone that is for as bad as we were treated in the Land of Misery this is just as bad if not worse we could get anough to eat in Misery such as it was but here not half anough
Sir I wrote a few lines with regard to getting me out of here Sum way or other too the governor [illegible] for I am in distress to see Yo all and acompany yo once more in the Field to kill some of the rebles though the were very neire killing me Last time I was wounded in the Left foot and right arm
and the Cap shot off my head the Left Ventilation in it going to the warm climates of Misery wee were fed just Like Hoggs and the foode not so Good as yo would give them when fatning them
Dere Sir it will do me a greate dale of good to here from yo and the boyes wee have not got any pay yet the officers in Comand here Says wee want oure discriptive List and then wee might get one months pay
