The bearer of this Hiram Scrafford is a citizen of this place, and who is on the way to Helena where he has a son very sick, and has been unfit for duty since June last. He wishes to bring him home until he recovers. Will you if consistent let him have such documents as will bring him. The Boy is a good industrious honest boy. And we feel as though he might be better cared for at home.

I hope you can assist him.
