Govr Yates

Dear Sir

Haveing heard of your kindness in sending home wounded soldiers belonging to Illinoise I thought that I would lay my case before you - hopeing that you may view it favorably I belong Co B 20th Ills - I was in he siege and Battle of Fort Donelson on the 13th 14th and 15th and was wounded on the 15th in the right thigh I am now able o get about on crutches and would be able to go home -- the surgeon tells me that I will not be able to go to my Regiment in a month and as it is very sickley at the hospital

I wish to get home until able to do duty - I should have been able to have payed my own Transportation if the rebles had not robbed me of all my money on hte field of Battle - my home is in Genieso - and if you can send me home - you shall ever have the prayers of a grateful solider

Truly Yours

Eugene R. Currier
