Brooklyn E. D. 1863
January 13th
To
Honorable Richd Yates - Governor - Illinois
Sir -
In behalf of the Parents of Wm E. Wrigley who enlisted into the 86 Illinois Regt Volunteers Compy G Captn Bean this Regt was raised in August 1862. the said Wm E. Wrigley has been in Hospital No. 7 Louisville - Ky. under Dr Gregory - four months, with a severe fever I believe there is a law to this effect, that no Soldier can be retained over Two-Months in any Hospital of the U.S. he has his Descriptive List, now Sir - if you can give your power and influence, by
assisting the Parents in obtaining the discharge of this young Man - you will be conferring a great favor - as he is their only (Child) and his Father is a very Sick Man - and should he not come home soon he may never see him again - please answer this as it will Ease the minds of all who know him - as Dr G knows, he never will be fit for a Soldier -
Yours Respectfully
