U.S. Gen Hospital

Mound City Ills Jan 14 1863

Hon Richard Yates

Dear Sir

Private James Plater Com "G" 109 Ills is now in the Hospital, disabled, and a fit subject for discharge from Service. He has no Descriptive Roll. His Regiment we learn by the papers is disbanded for bad behavior before the enemy, and he has no hope of procuring a Roll from it. Will you please furnish one from the Records of the Department at Springfield, upon which he can be discharged; or if he is a citizen by virtue of the action of the War Department respecting his Regiment, please give us official notice of the fact and oblige---

Yours Respectfully

S. S. Morrill

S. S. Morrill Chaplain.

Mound City Ills. Jan. 14th 1863

Says that Private James Plater Co. "G" 109th Regt. Ills Vols. is sick in Hospital at that place and is a fit subject for discharge. Wishes to ascertain if the recent order disbanding the 109th Regt. relieves from further serving the U.S. Government.
