Sir

I have the honor to acknowledge the Receipt of your communication of the 27th ultimo, requesting that Sergeant B. F. Horner of the 8th Ills: Cavly be transferred to the U. S. Hospl at Quincy Ill:

In reply I have to inform you that I have no power to effect any thing of the kind It rests with the Surgeon Genl or Secty of War.

For your information I will state that the Sergeant will be in condition in a few days to be Discharged from service, on Surgeon's certificates of Disability, and return home as a citizen.
