Mr Yats

Sir

I wish to adress you on a subject that I know nothing about and that is simply this I inlisted on the 15th of August 1862 in fulton Co Il as nurs for the 85 ragement and when we got to Louisville Ky I was detaild by my Sergeon and major as nurse in the ragemantal Hospital whare I staid until the 7 of October when I was drew out to go to my ragement whare I got on the 11 and staid until the 14 when I was sent to Harrodsburgh with 18 Sick men which I took care of until the 5 of February when the hospital broke up and I was sent to Danvill for duty whare I staid until the 25 of February and then had [run?] to for this place for fear of being taking prisner I am on duty here under Dr Coolage and I have not recieved but $13 for the

first month I have a famly to mentain and I canot git my pay I have my descriptive role and have been musterd for pay and on presenting my discriptive role the pay master refused to pay me on account of some mistake the Drs made in mustring me for extra pay now if thare is eny way of giting me out of this place and git me into my own state to some hospital to nurs thare I think that I would git my pay I am 57 years old and cannot stand knocking about very well my eye sight has faild very much since I come in to the service and it has brout the piles on me which I never had before I came into service and upon the whole I am purty well usd up though I am willing to do all that I can if you can have me sent to Illinois I will say no more but leve the rest to your honour

Is a member of the 85th Regt has never received but one months pay - is now a nurse in the hospital is 57 years of age and wishes to be transferred to some hospital in Illinois -

We have no authority to transfer
