Governor of the State of Illinois

Springfield Ill

Sir

I am directed by the Admiral, Commanding Mississippi Squadron, to Communicate with you in regard to carrying into effect the Sentence of a Court Martial in the case of Eugene Daley. "Sentenced to four (4) years hard labor in any penitentiary of the United States" with a view to having him placed in the State Penitentiary of Illinois.

Will you be pleased to advise me if the said Daley can


be received and what further Steps are necessary to have him duly delivered to the Authorities of your State
