Hon Richd. Yates
Springfield Ills.
Dear Governor
As the time is approaching for the meeting of the Legislature, and nothing is being done, by our people, to prevent so sad a calamity as it would be to have them again come together, They would do us and the country, a great deal to of harm, and I cannot see any good to the country, in such a meeting. Would it not be well to have the State Central Committe meet in Springfield and invite prominent Republicans from different sections of the State, including our members of Congress, to decide what course we ought to pursue, The Mass of the People in this region, do not wish to see another session of these men. I think your wishes expressed to a meeting of this kind, would have great influence. With kindest regards
I am Truly Your &c
