Hon Mr Yates

Dr Sir I am requested by a friend to write a few lines to inquire if you cant do something in his case. he joined the army of volentiers that volentiered last August. he voluntiered in Co B. 88 Regt made up & mustered into service at Chicago Ills. I think as near as my memory serves me the first move was to Nashville or near there where my friend was taken sick & was left in hospital he got a little better & was taken down again as soon as he went on duty he layed there a long time than he was removed to Louisville Ky. from thence to New Albany Ind where he now lays not able to do anything he says that


he can not get a furlow to come home an nor he cannot get a discharge from Service he has not been able to do any thing for about six months & he is discouraged & sick of being kept confined in hospital & get no better & no prospect of getting any better where he now is now Sir if you can do anything to comfort him in the way of having him sent home some way or other that he may have a chance of getting well you will confer a great favor on your friends by so doing my friends name is

James Pinegar remember his Co Co. B. 88 Regt under Capt Whiting Please let me know what you can do as soon as convenient and oblige yours truly
