Hon Richard Yates,

Dear Sir Some time last winter our former Mayor Mr. Parke Sent to you for Some Guns to aid in Suppressing a Riot then going on in this city to which you responded by sending us 40 for which we are truly thankful. We however need 40 more for our protection and the country around us. and if possible for you to do so we wish you to send us that number. we have a splendid company of men, and if you can Spare us 40 more Guns they will be Armed Complete and will be ready and wiling to aid in any emergency our City, State, or Government may require.
