Some time since, myself & others signed a Petition to you, on behalf of one Samuel Appelgate of the 125th Regt Ill Vol. to Secure your intervention, for his discharge, for reasons stated in the Petition. I have since ascertained, that you Ought not entertain his Petition & that he Ought to be Returned to the Service --
