To His Excellency Richard Yates
Dear sir - Jacob Gingrich
visits you for the purpose of procuring of you a request upon Secretary Stanton or other proper officer for the delivery into his custody of Christian Gingrich a private in Co E 82 Ills volunteers
The bearer Mr Gingrich together with three others are securities for the appearance of Christian Gingrich at the circuit court of Woodford County to answer an indictment for assault with intent to commit murder upon which default has been taken and final judgment will be rendered against such securities at the August term unless they can surrender his body in discharge of the recognizance. The recognizance is for the sum of $800 and the sureties men of very moderate means and can illy afford to lose that sum - If he shall be surrendered in discharge of such recognizance as his attorney I have no doubt that he can be tried and ac
quitted at the August term and returned to the service in a short time - Will you be so Kind as to give him a request or the proper documents to enable him to have Gingrich surrendered to him as one of his bail for the purposes aforesaid and oblige Yours truly
