Hon Ricd Yates

Governor of Illinois

The bearer of this Robert Dilworth Esqr who goes, if he can get through the lines, to look after the Soldiers in the Army who largely represent this community in the gallant 84th under Gen Palmer, is a Gentleman, in all respects worthy your esteem. He is one of the Truely Loyal firm, and unwavering friends of the government in her present struggle with the present Rebellion, and if it is possible to pass the lines is entitled to the entire confidence of yourself and all such officers as he may necessarily have to do with in his present Laudable enterprise.

Yours Truely

H. S. Thomas
