Post Hospital, Lebanon; Ky
Aug. 31. 1863
His Excellency. Gov. R Yates!
Dear Sir! - Yours of August 25th has just been received. Our Hospital is a Post Hospital, not a General one as you have supposed. We are under orders to send all our sick to General Hospital, at Louisville. A large number will go forward to -morrow. Among that number I find eight soldiers from your State. I have sent your request to the Medical Director at Louisville.
Very Respectfully
Your Obed't Servant
J.C. Maxwell.
A.A. Surgeon in charge.
P.S. -As to the case of W. McQuaid to whom you referred in a former communication he is well and on duty.
