Governor Yates

Dear Sir

Permit me to make a brief explanation in relation to Capt Vaughns wife (by his request). The Capt has heard that she had written to you - he could not imagine upon what subject - when I returned from the North in May last, he asked me if you spoke of the letter. I answered that you mentioned receiving a letter from Mrs V -- but no particulars. The Capt wrote & received letters from his wife

& he tells me today that it is all right -- that he was mistaken & [illegible] in writing to his wife about it. He feels greatly chagrined that you have been troubled with the matter.

Respectfully

T.P. Robb

Says Captain Vaughn is much mortified that the Governor should have been troubled about a letter written him by his wife.
