I have just written to Genl Farnsworth of Chicago, asking Authority to raise a Cavalry Regiment in Central Illinois. I write to ask you to give me your influence and assistance I have no doubt I can raise it. I have had several solicitations to make the application from Gentlemen in other counties

Will you be so kind as to write to General Farnsworth immediately and see if I can get such authority. I think if you give him some of your "big influence) it will all be right I hope you will so do which will bring me under obligation to serve you in the future
